"Regional Children's Art School"
Information
The state educational institution of additional education for children "Regional
Children's Art School" was opened in 1940 and became the first institution of
the Ulyanovsk oblast providing primary music education.
Currently, the Regional Children's Art School is a powerful educational,
methodological and cultural center of regional significance. Here operates a
methodical department of educational institutions of culture and art, which
coordinates the work of all educational institutions of supplementary education
for children - children's art schools and specialized secondary schools of
culture and art in the Ulyanovsk oblast. In this regard, the school has received
a status of methodological center.
The teachers regularly visit the municipal children's art
schools , carry out model lessons, organize concerts; prepare the students for
the entrance to secondary educational institutions; participate in organizing,
preparing and conducting competitions and seminars; write reviews on programs,
classes and concerts.
There are over 500 students in the school. The teaching
stuff includes 4 Honored workers of Culture of Russia. 25 teachers have awards
of federal agencies and departments.
Under the guidance of experienced teachers the students have achieved good
results. Among the students there are winners of competitions at various levels:
from regional to international. Several times the students have represented the
Ulyanovsk Oblast abroad - in the Vatican, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Portugal.
They performed in the Kremlin Palace of Congresses and took part in the concert
program at the Poklonnaya Hill, dedicated to 200 anniversary of Alexander
Pushkin. They also participated in the programs carried out by the
charity funds of Vladimir Krainev and
Vladimir Spivakov, and have become the winners of the All-Russia charitable
program "New Names", the national project "Education" and the All-Russia
competition "Young talents of Russia".
Many talented graduates of the school continue their
education at secondary and higher educational institutions of the country,
promoting the national culture.
Education
The Regional Children's Art School operates under the license issued by the
department of licensing and monitoring the quality of education of the Ulyanovsk
region (series A, ą 200890. Registration number 4703 dated January 26, 2007).
The state educational institution of additional education
for children "Regional Children's Art School" provides education in the three
main fields: music, art and dance. Education is carried out in the following
departments:
- Piano
- String-bow,
- Folk
- brass
- Pop-jazz,
- dance,
- Art.
The students study their
subjects in accordance with educational plans elaborated especially for each
department.
Moreover, there is a special department with a special
education program for advanced students of all the departments, except the
pop-jazz one.
For children of preschool age there is also a group of
early harmonious development - "Kolokolchik".

The concert work of the Regional Children's Art
School is performed by both soloists and ensembles: the Concert Choir "Scarlet
Sails" and the vocal ensemble under the direction of Z.I. Rogozhina, the
pop-jazz ensemble and orchestra of Russian folk instruments under the guidance
of V.F. Grishina, the pop-jazz orchestra under the leadership of P.V. Grishina,
the violin ensemble "La Campanella" and the trio "Grad" under the leadership of
T.M. Kurova.
Projects implemented by the Regional Children's
School of Art
The talented
teaching staff of the school has founded and arranged the Inter-regional
competition "Divertimento" for all music departments. The competition is held
every two years and attracts more than 100 participants.
Every two years in the last days of spring they hold the
Interregional pop-jazz
festival-competition "Jazz Spring".
The presentations of the participants come along with master classes, where in a
live music-making process the festival participants can get valuable information
about the very keystone of jazz –improvisation, as well as receive valuable
advice on the subtleties of the performing art. The main objective of the
project is the musical fellowship of young musicians: acquaintance, contacts,
experience exchange, joint music-making and improving skills under the guidance
of famous jazz musicians and teachers.
Moreover, the Regional
Children's Art School
annually organizes up to 9 competitions, including:
- "Spring Vernissage", a Regional Competition for
students from piano departments of children's art schools
- "Magic Bow", a Regional Competition for students from string-bow departments
of children's art schools pupils and students of specialized secondary
educational institutions,
- "Silver Trumpets", an Inter-Regional Competition for
orchestras and young musicians on wind instruments,
- "Sunny plunks”, a Regional competition for young
musicians of folk music,
- Regional Competition on accompaniment for students of
piano departments of children's art schools,
- "Sunny world , hello!",
a Regional Choral Festival - Competition for
students of children's art schools
- “Song patterns", a
Regional Competition for performers of folk songs
- Regional theoretical Competition for students of
children's art schools,
- "Simbirsk frills”, a Regional competition for
dance groups of children's art schools.
The Regional Children's art school takes part in the development of regional
target programs. In 2008, as part of the departmental target program "Basic
directions of state support of culture and art in the Ulyanovsk oblast for
2008-2010", the School implemented an innovative video project "Singing piano”.
The project aims to form a "Golden Fund" of children - exponents of classical
music - students of children's art schools of Ulyanovsk and the Ulyanovsk
region.
The school initiated the establishment of the regional
target program "Culture is the key to happiness" – a program for Weekend Clubs
of public cultural institutions. The program is designed to turn the residents
of the Ulyanovsk region to the values of domestic and foreign art and culture,
to the best samples of folk art, classical and contemporary art; as well as to
strengthen the family by creating common family interests. The peculiar feature
of the program is that the cultural events are arranged on the basis of cultural
institutions - museums, theaters, libraries, where children can visit on Sundays
with their parents.
The Regional Children's Art School aims to develop the talents of gifted
children as part of the regional program "Children of the Ulyanovsk Oblast”,
therefore it has become an organizer and coordinator of the Summer Art Schools "Simbirsk
mosaic", established on behalf of the Department of Culture and archival issues
and under the support of the Government of the Ulyanovsk oblast. Each year, the
creative school is focused on another specialty and it invites the students, the
most outstanding ones in this specialty. Classes are combined with recreation
activities and an interesting cultural program, designed especially for these
children.
The school stuff takes an active part in projects devoted
to the native land. The School has held the all-Russia competition of young
artists: "N.M. Karamzin - writer, journalist, historian" and "Simbirsk - the
land of fathers". After the competitions
had been over, the International Children's Art Gallery (Moscow) hosted the
nation-wide exhibition of works by young artists and produced an illustrated
catalog.
